I’m back in Elgin again. I drove here nearly a week ago to help my mom with her loss. It’s been interesting, to say the least. Larry’s family is kind and welcoming. They’ve included my mother in everything. They allowed me to say a few words on my mother’s behalf at the funeral.
Today we are going to a field near where Larry owned a home and shoot off his cannon. Kind of like a salute. I’ll post a video of it if I get a good one.
A little homesick, but not so much I’m feeling sorry for myself.
A few years ago my mom was reacquainted with an old school friend. They claimed they were boyfriend and girlfriend for a while, but I’d never heard about him until mom mentioned him to me one Christmas soon after they’d met again.
He made mom happy. And she made him happy.
They hoped 2008 would be a good year – at least better than last year when Mom had a severe case of pneumonia and Larry had surgery for cancer.
It wasn’t a better year. In fact it was much worse.
Rest in Peace, Larry. You will be missed. Thank you for being there for mom in so many ways.
Netflix emailed me apologizing for a shipping delay and said they’d credit my account 5%. I hadn’t noticed, but thanks Netflix. That’s awfully nice of you. I guess there were some problems with their site. We were college shopping on Monday, so were not looking at the site.
It seems others were, though. And lots of silly people got mad.
