I wrote about this here: 201/365 Lali’s Daughter’s Book

Her Body and other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado
This was an Indiespensables selection and only the second one I’ve finished. It is a selection of short stories, all focusing on women. Many LGBTQ+ themes throughout with sci fi and mystic realism tossed in in for good measure.
I loved some stories (The Husband Stitch — a retelling of a children’s horror story with other horror stories thrown in), liked some and hated one (Especially Heinous — a 60-page collection of Law & Order: SVU episodes that pertained to Heinous crimes against women).
When I got to Especially Heinous I nearly quit reading the book, but since Clare wanted the book and I promised I would give it to her, I pushed on and finished by the time we visited her in Olympia.
The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
This book kept being recommended to me by Amazon’s algorithms so I finally succumbed and either bought it or borrowed it from the library.
I enjoyed it. It was very Hitchcockian and also reminded me of Where’d You Go Bernadette.
If you want a light, yet suspenseful mystery — this book is for you.
